Growing up in Southern California I had three older brothers and a household full of assorted pets to keep me company. Riding horses was my passion and I competed successfully in saddle seat, western/stock seat and hunt seat equitation until I went to college. After graduating in 1973 from SUNY with a dual degree in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Sciences, I moved to Northern California where I lived until 1991 when I moved to Colorado. Since graduating I have worked almost continuously in the title insurance industry as a manager and escrow officer. I am retired and loving it.
My first Aussie, Rainy, came into my life in 1970. Rainy was smart, loyal and liked to herd the mailman. In 1991 my stepson Jesse and I obtained Crown Point's Mr. MD (Doc) from Kay Harris. Then in 1993 I purchased Billie, a 7 week old puppy from Libby Graham of Sered, and she became my first show dog and Lyric's foundation bitch.
My first litter was born in April 1996 and included 4 ASCA champions and 3 AKC champions. Breeding approximately 1 litter a year, I breed primarily for myself. Most puppies are sold to companion/pet homes on a spay/neuter contract. Puppies are also sold to performance and all around homes and a few are sold to conformation homes. Finding a good home for the puppies is of primary importance. All parents have had their hips x-rayed and graded by OFA. In 2004 all dogs began having their elbows x-rayed at the same time they have their hips done to screen for elbow displaysia. The dogs have their eyes checked annually for any hereditary eye defects.
I have a passion for breeding, raising, training and showing Australian Shepherds. I love working with these wonderful dogs and sharing my life with them.
Lyric Aussies is located just outside of Parker, CO on 5 acres. Parker is about 30 minutes southwest of Denver and about 45 minutes from Denver International Airport. The property includes a barn with 6 indoor/outdoor runs plus a shed with three indoor/outdoor runs near the house. There are also four yards all fenced and cross fenced. My husband, Geoff Withers and I currently share our home with 5 dogs. All of the dogs are house pets.
Visitors are welcome by appointment and potential puppy buyers are encouraged to visit often.
